Stress Relief in a Stressful Year

This has been a stressful year for a lot of people. And for most of the stress is long term, because it is going to take a while to recover from the money, job, and housing stress that most of the country is still experiencing. This kind of stress can lead to sleepless nights, stress knots in the back and neck, anxiety attacks, and even high blood pressure.

Many people are trying to cope with these symptoms of stress with drugs, drink, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications or sleeping pills. The major problem with these solutions is that they can have an adverse affect on the body and can be addictive. There are better stress management techniques to help you deal with stress that are easy to use and can be practiced anytime.

Breathing Exercises
When feelings of stress and anxiety are building, it’s time to take action. There is nothing worst than letting you body and mind experience heightening stress without doing something to help your body release the anxiety. Let off the steam, let out the air and release the stress with breathing exercises. They are easy to do and you can do them anywhere.

Yoga
Yoga is my favorite way to get rid of stress. Yoga helps you realize a level of stress relief that is very hard to attain with anything else. Yoga movements and breathing techniques really teach you how to relieve stress.

Relaxation Exercises
Certain positions can be very helpful for stress relief. These relaxation exercises are easy to do, and they can help get rid of stress knots that can gather in your neck, shoulders and back.

If you feel you need additional help to relieve stress try herbal teas, the stress relief patch, Epsom salt baths, and many other natural stress management techniques to help you find your inner peace.

Do You Have a B12 Deficiency?

The B12 vitamin is one of the most important nutrients the body needs to maintain a normal, healthy daily rhythm. B12 is the essential mineral needed to build energy in your body by processing the fats, proteins and carbohydrates absorbed from the food you consume everyday. The B12 vitamin also helps protect the body from illness and disease, and keeps your immunity system functioning at an optimum level. The nerves running through your veins are covered with a protective shell provided by the B12 vitamin, and it keeps your red blood cells healthy and free from impurities. In short, the B12 vitamin is extremely important to your health and well-being.

The elderly and vegetarians are more prone to developing a B12 vitamin deficiency. B12 deficiencies can produce memory loss, fatigue, confusion, depression, muscle weakness, numbness, and tingling in extremities. Even a moderate B12 deficiency can contribute to the onset of Alzheimer's disease or other dementia's.

The amount of vitamin B12 in the body decreases as you get older. As many as 20% of those over 65 have been found to be deficient in vitamin B12, and most show no symptoms. Correcting a B12 deficiency can help the elderly and those with B12 deficiencies resume full and normal lives.

You could be suffering with the symptoms of a B12 vitamin deficiency without ever knowing it. If you have symptoms, get tested. There is also an easy way to supplement the B12 vitamin through the B12 Vitamin Patch. Look into it.

Does the Smell of Fresh Cut Grass Relieve Stress?

We already know that aromatherapy is a great way to relieve stress. Aromatherapy essential oils have been used for years for stress relief. Lavender essential oil is most commonly used to relieve stress. It's my personal favorite. I keep a bottle with me, and use the lavender oil in aromatherapy diffusers at home and in the office.

Well, The Times of India is reporting that after seven years of research, scientists now claim to have made a perfume called, the "eau de mow" which "smells like a freshly-cut lawn", and their research has shown that it helps relieve stress.

If you have allergies you may disagree, and this product will probably not be for you. But the researchers are so convinced that this new smell is effective at relieving stress that they are planning to incorporated into other products.
  • Dr Lavidis, who worked with pharmacologist Professor Rosemary Einstein, said: "It can be used as a room spray or a personal spray on bed linen, a handkerchief or clothing. Down the track we will look at incorporating the feel good chemicals into other products."
You can read the entire article on The Times of India. I know aromatherapy works to relieve stress. Will this be one of the scents that will out do essentials oils for stress relief? I won't take any bets on it, but it may be interesting to take a whiff and see if the "feel good" chemicals really work.

Relaxation Exercises Relieve Stress

The ability to relax is important to effectively manage stress and anxiety. It is surprising how many of us will admit that we don't know how to relax, or find it difficult to feel uncomfortable when trying to relax. Do you sometimes feel that if you allow yourself to relax, you will loose your edge or the ability to stay on top of all of your responsibilities? Without the ability to relax, chronic stress or anxiety can lead to burnout, anger, irritability, depression, and health issues.

There are many benefits to being able to induce relaxation in your own body. Relaxation exercises can be a powerful weapon against stress. Utilizing relaxation exercises is a skill that doesn't take a great deal of time or effort to do effectively, but once you start practicing how to relax, you will never go back to your old stress-filled ways of operation.

Anger is Stress

Anger is just one of the affects of being stressed. There are several signs of stress to be aware of. It's interesting when people think that they are not stressed when they are angry. "I don't get stressed out." You've probably heard that before, but you see that same person flying off the handle and responding with anger to dynamic situations most of the time. It is stress, and it's important to take control of it before stress takes control of you.

It's not just because expressing anger can sometimes be unattractive, but anger can affect you internally. Anger and stress can raise your blood pressure, give you migraines, cause heart palpitations, and keep your body and mind tense and agitated for long periods of time.

Be mindful of your anger and the stress it causes. You may get angry, but learn to use stress management techniques to minimize the impact. Take your stress seriously. Try relaxation exercises, breathing exercises, aromatherapy, or even self-hypnosis, but do something to keep stress from causing you internal turmoil.

Let Stress Go

Letting go of stress can sometimes be very difficult, especially if what's stressing you is still a problem. Finances, jobs, relationships; if the source of the stress is still active, how can you let the stress it brings go? Well, you have to work at it. You really do. If you let stress build and fester, you will surely suffer the consequences, and you know what those consequences are; headaches, anxiety, anger, the list can be very long. How do you work at? You use tools and techniques to combat the affects of stress.

Imagery meditation is one, breathing and relaxation exercises are another. Yoga and aromatherapy can be effective too. Pick the tool that works for you, but do something before the stress gets the bests of you.

Imagery meditation is great because it helps you let go of stress just by focusing on the visuals. It's great for those times when you just can't stop mind-racing negative or stressful thoughts. The imagery can be a picture, it can be video, or any image that allows you to concentrate and let go of your stress.

Stop Stress Before it Stops You

Do you know when stress is impacting you physically? You may get headaches, stomachaches, neck, back or shoulder pain. Stress can be very powerful. I would develop painful knots the size of a fist in my back and shoulders before I realized that stress was causing it. Once I realized that stress was taking that kind of toll on my body, I got very serious about controlling the stress in my life.

You may think you can handle your stress. You don't have to do anything about stress. You just keep moving through it. The problem with that approach is you are allowing stress to hang around, grow and even cause physical problems while you're "moving through it."

The better approach to take against stress is to stop stress from growing the moment you notice it developing. Use whatever technique that works for you to stop stress in its tracks. The sooner you learn how to relieve your stress, the better chance you will have of limiting the health issues stress can cause.

Sometimes a simple breathing exercise can be all you need to derail a stressful moment. A very simple and effective breathing exercise is breathing deeply in and out through your nose. Inhale deeply through your nose, pause for two heart beats, then breathe out through your nose. Pause to heart beats, inhale deeply and release that breath completely through your nose. Continue until you feel relaxed.

It's best to take action against stress, because we all tend to internalize it. We stuff stress down because its not always good to let others know when your stressing. It's human to stress, but it's unnecessary to let it grow. Don't let your stress go unchecked.
